Faith's Transformative Power and Testimony

Motivational Speaker Sheila delivered a message emphasizing the transformative power of faith and the importance of sharing one's testimony. She shared the story of Mario, a former prisoner who turned his life around through journalism, to illustrate how individuals can overcome negative self-perceptions and societal labels. Sheila also discussed the biblical teachings of Mark 5 and the significance of Jesus' healing miracles, emphasizing that no life is beyond redemption. She encouraged the congregation to embrace their faith journey, remain hopeful, and share their experiences of God's mercy with others.

Restoring Fellowship with God

Sheila discussed the concept of renewing fellowship with Jesus, emphasizing that while salvation is eternal, breaking fellowship with God can be restored. She referenced John Newton's song "Amazing Grace" as an example of redemption and shared insights from biblical figures like Paul and Joseph, highlighting the importance of boldness in prayer and action. She encouraged listeners to trust God fully, confront unjust laws, and embrace the blessings promised by God, urging them to act on their faith rather than just pray about it.

Prayer -

Trevor led a prayer where he prayed for various needs including healing for the sick, protection for the homeless, deliverance from drugs, and blessings for schools. He also prayed for the United States to be a blessed and peaceful country where everyone can prosper. The conversation ended with a song and expressions of gratitude.

Advent Sermon: The Gift of Peace

Trevor preached a sermon about Advent, focusing on the theme of peace. He read from Isaiah 9 and Luke 2, emphasizing that peace is a gift from God, not something we create ourselves. Trevor highlighted that while peace may seem far away, it is a promise fulfilled through Jesus, who came as the Prince of Peace. He encouraged the congregation to find peace in their hearts, knowing that peace is both present and coming with Jesus' return.

He discussed how Jesus' birth marked the end of 400 years of silence and emphasized that peace is not just a feeling but a person - Jesus. Trevor explained that Jesus' response to a violent world was not through conquest but through offering forgiveness and love. He encouraged the congregation to keep pressing forward in their faith, even when others may not support them, and to continue praying for those who are still struggling. Trevor concluded by reading from John 14:25-26, highlighting the presence of the Holy Spirit as a source of guidance and peace.

Advent Peace Through Reconciliation

Trevor also shared a message about peace during Advent Communion, emphasizing that Jesus offers a peace rooted in His presence rather than circumstances. Members read from Ephesians 2:13-18, highlighting how Jesus' work on the cross reconciles us to God and to each other, tearing down walls of hostility. Trevor encouraged the congregation to forgive, release, and pray for softened hearts, noting that true Advent peace involves letting go of hurt and moving forward.

Studies concluded on 1 Corinthians 11, focusing on the meaning of communion and its significance during Advent. He emphasized that communion is a time to remember Jesus' sacrifice, examine one's heart, and look forward to His return. Sister Sheila announced the church's upcoming 5th year church anniversary celebration on December 21 and expressed gratitude for a recent donation to the food bank. The service concluded with a prayer for peace and prosperity.
