Empowering Ourselves in the Lord Ministry – Worship Service Recap

Sunday, January 4, 2026

Our first worship service and Communion of 2026 was a powerful time of reflection, renewal, and recommitment to God.

Entering the New Year Through Communion

Sunday’s service centered on the significance of Communion as we entered the new year. Pastor Trevor delivered a message focused on drawing near to God with confidence and faith, emphasizing that Jesus Christ’s sacrifice is complete, sufficient, and made once for all. Scripture readings from Hebrews highlighted the new covenant and the finality of Christ’s work on the cross.

Sister Skyler led the Scripture reading from Proverbs 3:5–6, reminding the congregation to “trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding,” setting the tone for entering the new year with faith and dependence on God.

The congregation was encouraged to hold unswervingly to hope, to encourage one another, and to remain committed to gathering together as a faith community. The service concluded with a prayer for the year ahead and an invitation to partake in Communion.

Embracing Faith and Positive Thinking

Amanda, our Church Secretary, led a spiritual discussion on maintaining a positive mindset while trusting God’s guidance. She reminded the congregation of the importance of avoiding worry and stress, which can negatively affect both physical and mental well-being.

Motivational leader Sheila reinforced this message by highlighting the power of positive thinking and the importance of removing negative influences—such as envy and harmful practices—to make room for God’s blessings. The discussion concluded with a devotion led by Sister Donna Kay based on 1 Corinthians 15:55, emphasizing the hope and sweetness of eternal life.

Embracing Christ and Eternal Life

Motivational leader Sheila also shared a message encouraging the congregation to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. She spoke about eternal life and the peace that comes through Christ, urging believers to study Scripture, make prayer a daily practice, and extend Christ’s love and mercy to others.

She emphasized the importance of being mindful of relationships, warning against unequally yoked connections and compromising influences. Her message concluded with encouragement to assemble together, observe the Lord’s Supper, and live with joy, patience, and faithfulness.

Hope and Faith for 2026

Pastor Trevor reaffirmed the theme of entering the new year with hope and confidence in God. The congregation reflected on Hebrews 10, focusing on Christ’s once-for-all sacrifice that makes believers secure while continuing the work of sanctification. The message challenged the church to walk forward united in faith, love, and encouragement as the year unfolds.

The service concluded with announcements celebrating Pastor Trevor’s upcoming anniversary and a call for the ministry to continue walking in God’s favor and love throughout 2026.
